Tax Day

Elissa Jiji accepts award from War Resisters

As tax day approaches, here’s a nugget from last year:

The 4th Street Food Coop was honored to be awarded $1000 from the New York City People’s Life Fund, sponsored by the New York City War Tax Resisters. Four other very worthy groups also received funds at a ceremony on April 15, 2009 in front of the IRS building. We are humbled to be among these recipients. The coop has used the money to purchase badly needed new bulk bins, allowing us to offer a better variety of bulk dry and liquid goods. Buying in bulk allows people to reduce packaging use, which is often made from petroleum based plastic. Thank-you War Resisters, see you at the coop!
